Description

Enjoy perfectly crispy okra without the deep-frying mess! This air fryer version gives you golden, crunchy bites with minimal oil and maximum flavor—a quick and healthy side dish or snack you’ll crave again and again.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh okra, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • Olive oil spray


Instructions

  1. Prep Coating: In one bowl, whisk egg and milk. In another, combine cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. Coat Okra: Dip sliced okra in the egg mixture, then dredge in the dry mix until coated.

  3. Air Fry: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place okra in a single layer and spray tops.

  4. Cook: Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  5. Serve: Enjoy hot as a snack or side with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double-coat the okra (egg → flour mix → egg → flour mix again).

  • Works great with gluten-free flour too!

  • Best served immediately—reheat leftovers in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
