Description

BBQ Chicken Mac and Cheese blends smoky barbecue flavor with creamy, cheesy pasta for the ultimate comfort dish everyone will crave.


Ingredients

8 oz elbow macaroni

2 cups cooked shredded chicken

1 cup barbecue sauce

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

2 cups milk

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: green onions or crispy onions for topping


Instructions

1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.

3. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.

4. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.

5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

6. Stir in cooked pasta and mix until coated.

7. In a separate bowl, toss shredded chicken with barbecue sauce.

8. Fold BBQ chicken into the mac and cheese.

9. Serve immediately or transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with extra cheese, and broil for 3–4 minutes.

10. Top with green onions or crispy onions if desired.

Notes

Use smoked gouda for a deeper flavor.

Make it spicy by adding a dash of hot sauce or chipotle powder.

Use rotisserie chicken to save time.
