Ingredients

2 cups cooked elbow macaroni

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 1/2 cups cooked shredded BBQ chicken

1/4 cup BBQ sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: sliced green onions for garnish


Instructions

1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.

3. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until slightly thickened.

4. Add shredded cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until melted and smooth.

5. In a bowl, toss shredded chicken with BBQ sauce.

6. Stir cooked pasta into cheese sauce until coated.

7. Fold in BBQ chicken or layer it on top.

8. Garnish with green onions if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Use rotisserie chicken for a quicker prep.

Add jalapeños for a spicy kick.

Double the cheese for an extra creamy version.
