Chicken Sausage Broccoli Orzo is a quick, healthy, and comforting one-pan meal made with savory sausage, tender pasta, and crisp broccoli.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 chicken sausages, sliced
1 cup orzo pasta
2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
2 cups broccoli florets, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Sauté onion until translucent, about 3 minutes.
3. Add garlic and sliced sausage, then cook until sausage browns.
4. Stir in orzo and toast for 1 minute.
5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
6. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
7. Add broccoli, cover, and cook for another 5–6 minutes, until orzo is tender.
8. Season with pepper and salt to taste.
9. Stir in parmesan cheese if using. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use turkey sausage for a leaner version.
Add lemon zest for a brighter flavor.
Stir in spinach at the end for extra greens.
