Layered with cured meats, crisp veggies, melted cheese, and a tangy grinder salad, this Italian Grinder Sub is the ultimate deli-style sandwich you can make at home. It’s hearty, flavorful, and irresistibly satisfying!

For the Sandwich:

  • 1 large hoagie roll or sub sandwich bread, halved

  • 4 slices salami

  • 4 slices ham

  • 4 slices pepperoni

  • 4 slices provolone cheese

  • Tomato slices

  • Red onion, thinly sliced

  • Pickled banana peppers (optional)

For the Grinder Salad:

  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

  1. Prepare Grinder Salad:
    In a bowl, mix lettuce, mayo, vinegar, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper until coated. Set aside.

  2. Assemble Sandwich Base:
    On the bread, layer meats and cheese evenly. Toast in oven or air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are crispy.

  3. Finish with Toppings:
    Add tomato slices, onion, and banana peppers. Pile on grinder salad.

  4. Serve:
    Close the sandwich, slice, and serve immediately with chips or a pickle.

Notes

  • Use spicy capicola or soppressata for extra heat.

  • Substitute romaine for iceberg if preferred.

  • Can be prepped in advance—just add the salad right before serving.
